It's July!!! Already?

I can hardly believe it has been a month since our wedding. Time sure flies by quickly! Chris and I are still working on setting up our house. We have started to hang pictures and add artistic touches to the house.

Last weekend Chris and I took a trip to Sierra Vista to attend our friends Josh and Shelby's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding, and we had a great time catching up with old high school friends. This was the first event we attended where my name was listed as Theresa Dickerson.

On July 1 I started my new job a Phoenix Theatre as the Public Relations Manager. My first day was pretty amazing. I woke up extremely nervous, but once I entered the office my co-workers made me feel so welcome my nerves melted away. I am really excited for this season at Phoenix Theatre! We have a really great line-up including one of my favorite shows... HAIRSPRAY! I know I still have a lot learn, but I feel Phoenix Theatre will be a great place to work.

July 3 also marked a special day on the calendar...... Chris' 22 birthday! We celebrated with a day at the pool with Mike, Kim and Jake (Chris' brother and family) followed by dinner at Gorden Biersch. On July 4 we hosted a 4th of July/ Birthday party. Our college friends made the trek up to the North Valley to celebrate our country and Chris!

I can't believe time is flying so fast! But I will try to keep everyone posted. I should be getting our wedding photos back sometime this week, and I will post the link and some of the images to the blog.

Wow! What a month!

Sorry it has been awhile since I made a post. Life has been a little crazy :)
On May 29, 2010 Chris and I tied the knot! It was a beautiful ceremony. Chris' hometown pastor, Pastor Pike, performed the ceremony; my friend Aiko did a wonderful job with all the music, and my friend Katie blew everyone away with her amazing vocals with singing "So This is Love" from Cinderella. Surprising enough I only cried a little when I walked down the aisle, but besides that it was smooth sailing!

We did have a few mishaps before the wedding. But they were all quickly resolved. One story is quite hilarious... Chris' brother, Mike, was the best man and in charge of my wedding band. My dad told him it would be best if he put the ring on his pinky finger so it would not get lost. Except, one the pre-wedding photographs was of the boys playing catch with their gloves on. Unfortunately, Mike forgot to take the ring off, and it got lost in the grass when he took his glove off. So all the guys in the tuxes were searching the Church lawn for my ring, while the guests were arriving. But thank goodness one of our awesome photographers found the ring before the ceremony started. But Mike was still a great best man and gave one heck of a toast at the reception. :)

All in all the ceremony went swimmingly, and it really reflected Chris and my faith and commitment to each other.

The reception was out-of-this-world. The Sheraton Wild Horse Pass was worth every dime. The food was amazing, the decorations were amazing, and the staff was helpful and extremely friendly. Sandra even added a few extra things like a home plate at the head table, which really set the tone for the night. Mike our DJ from Event Centrale really made the reception. He moved the reception so smoothly, and many of my guests came up to me later and said he was one of the best DJs they had ever heard. He really made the night a blast.

Thank to all my friends and family who made Chris and my wedding day so special. We love you more than words can say, and this was truly a dream come true for the both us.

When our wedding photos are ready I will post the link and password to my blog and Facebook page.

The countdown is on!

29 days until the big day, and Chris and I have so much going on!
  • Chris and I are done with school next week. Woo! College graduates!
  • We move into our new house May 18 (more details to come I promise.)
  • I might have a job come next week (again, more details to come.)
  • My parents come to Phoenix a week before the wedding! I am so excited to see them, and then my best friend, Tiffany, comes into town that week as well.
  • Then we have the wedding on May 29, 2010
What a busy month! This will probably be the busiest month of both Chris and my lives :-)

One of the awesome things about our wedding date getting closer is the wedding gifts are beginning roll in. We have been blessed with amazing family and friends, who have been spoiling us with presents. We just received our bedding off our registry. I am so excited to put it in our new bedroom. Our friend Elise (who set Chris and I up in high school) sent us a beautiful spice rack. I cannot wait to cook yummy meals for Chris with those spices, and I will always think of her when I use it.
Please keep Chris and I in your thoughts and prayers this month. We seem to have our heads on straight now, but we might go a little crazy in a few weeks!

From Miss to Mrs.

In high school I would doodle my name Theresa Dickerson all over my notebook. But now that in month I will become Theresa Dickerson I learning how difficult it is to change your name. I wish I could just doodle it on a marriage license and that would be all.

According to Knot.com here is all the things you need to do to change your name:

1. Get Proof
Arm yourself with a certified marriage license -- be sure it has a raised seal, which means it's authentic. Call the office where your license was filed to get copies if they aren't automatically sent to you.

2. Set Social Security Straight
Contact the Social Security Administration at (800) 772-1213; an automated system will talk you through the name change process. Your new card will be free -- if you're contacted by a company that claims to do this for a fee, don't buy it. These companies have nothing to do with the SSA and should be reported to authorities.

3. Motor on Down to the DMV
Visit the Department of Motor Vehicles, which requires you to make a personal appearance (read: wait in line). Bring a book to read and every form of identification you can lay your hands on. No matter what, do not forget your certified marriage license.

4. Fill in the Blanks
Once you have a social security card and driver's license in your married name, other changes should be fairly easy. Some institutions only require a phone call; others may ask for a copy of your marriage certificate or social security card. Be sure to notify:

  • Friends and family
  • Employers/payroll
  • Post office
  • Phone company and other utilities
  • Banks and other financial institutions
  • Credit card companies
  • Schools and alumni associations
  • Voter registration

And don't forget to get your new name on these documents as well:

  • Passport (Do not do this before the wedding -- your passport name must match the name on your ticket and all other travel documents! It's easier to take your honeymoon with your maiden name.)
  • Mortgages and leases
  • Wills
  • Insurance policies
  • Magazine subscriptions

I need my passport for our honeymoon so I cannot change my name until after the cruise, but I am not looking forward to doing all this. Maybe I should convince Chris to change to Christopher Pace. Oh, that has a nice sound :)

Something Maroon, Something Gold

Thanks to those who have followed me to my new Blog location!

As I approach May my excitement continues to grow! I graduate from Arizona State University on May 14th!!!! I am getting married on May 29th!!!!!! I leave for my honeymoon on June 4th!!!!! And hopefully I will come home to a job (fingers crossed my job interviews go well.)

This week Chris and I are working on getting all our wedding appointments scheduled.
  • We are meeting to finalize the menu and bar selections at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass.
  • We have to meet with our photographers: Joshuasky photography.
  • We have to pick the music and discuss the timeline with our DJ: Mike from Event Centrale.
  • Chris and I are going to Men's Wearhouse with the Groomsmen this Saturday. I am excited to see the boys in their tuxes!
  • I am trying to make rehearsal dinner invitations, but they keep getting pushed aside by homework.
  • We also have to get the headcount in to the florist, baker and the resort by May 8. (So if you are reading this and have not RSVP please do.) :-)
I have two meeting with potential employers next week. I am excited to meet with them and discuss where I might fit in with their companies. I just hope these meetings will result in a job. I really love working in the PR/Marketing field, and I do not want to have to work at Walmart.

That is all I have for now! I will keep you posted as I venture into May!
